Tai chi camps & competitions

Camps

Camps are different from workshops - which are usually only one day and 1- 6 hours in duration, and also from seminars - normally 2 days and 4-6 hours per day. Camps are usually residential and usually last 5 days. This gives me time to know people and for them to know me and one another, and helps to create a relationship akin to that between me and my master, in particular it gives people the time to build up the courage to ask questions.

The format (save when dealing with new centurions) is that I ask individuals who are more or less experienced to show or explain techniques or concepts, then, if anything is unclear or incorrect we have a discussion and try to find a better way. I learned this method of instructing when serving in the Royal Hong Kong Police. It works.

In most camps we cover hand form, pushing hands, self defence applications for all and weapons for the more advanced. Where people have met the basic requirements they may do the Nei Kung (Internal Strength training), which is separate from the regular camp training. Separate arrangements also apply to other specialised training such as Xian Jia Baduanjin.

For those who are interested they may if they wish be awarded a training or instructor's certificate for no extra charge. My nine level certification system is based on Chinese chess.

In all cases the cost given is for training only; accommodation and food will be extra. REDUCED prices are available for full-time students and unemployed and those coming from Eastern Europe. Pl. ask for details.

The camps all cater for all levels. I will put more details up soon.
